Ms Fadhillah Johari, 31, was one of the many employees out there that were affected by COVID-19. It was hard for her when she got retrenched from her previous job as a product support specialist: “I felt disappointed with myself… as I have always equated personal success with career growth.”
She also observed the rise in demand for digital marketing and data analytics positions when she was looking out for a new career. Eager to upgrade herself, she signed up for courses on different online platforms and through SGUnited Skills Programme. That was when she turned a crisis into an opportunity – she got to know Ms Shane Yan, co-founder of Growthbeans, who was also a career coach then. She then managed to secure an attachment at Inspire-Tech.
How did it happen?
Inspire-Tech was one of the companies that participated in the first pilot run of the SGTech Career Support Group, a programme delivered by Growthbeans and powered by WSG. This was a necessary step for us as we believe in developing people. Through this programme, we managed to tap on a pool of mid-career switchers and got Ms Fadhillah on board with us.
Ms Fadhillah is now excelling in her career as a customer success officer: “I was able to apply the skills and knowledge I had acquired in the past six months on the job. With a supportive team and an environment that promotes continuous learning, I was able to ease into the role with confidence.” She provides tech solutions to clients who are embarking on digitalisation.
